Amanda Brugel

(February 27 2010 - Toronto ON) Pointe Claire is a secluded community in this part of the island of Montreal known as"the West Island. It is a bit of a mystery as the West Island can be confusing for those who aren't familiar of its purpose. It is often believed that it's an island located west of Montreal However, it is actually a part of the city. West Island encompasses everything between the two cities of Lachine and West. Amanda Brugel was born there however her stay in the city wasn't long. Brugel became an aspiring young lady in Courtice Ontario, just outside Oshawa. In her early years she hoped to become a performer but an unexpected growth spurt made it impossible. In an article published by the Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall, even when she wears heels. As I got bigger than my male counterparts, I gave up. Many former dancers turn to acting and in Brugel's situation, it was a suggestion from a high school drama teacher that encouraged her to go in that direction. It was her teacher who advised her to audition to play the character of Anne in their annual school production. Following a trial, she ended up as the main character of Anne of Green Gables. When she was awarded the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship, she attended York University and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in the year 2000. In the last 20 years, her roles on television and the big screen have been numerous. The character of Rita in the award-winning show The Handmaid's Tale was her most memorable. Brugel was the sole Canadian actor in the season 1 and only appeared at times.
